INTRODUCTION:

Homeopathy may be employed in the management of any illness (acute or chronic), whether as a primary or supportive treatment. Homeopathic medicines work by stimulating the body's self-regulatory and recovery mechanisms. The appeal of homeopathic treatment is that there are no recorded side effects.

In South Africa homeopaths complete clinical training (of 5-7 years) comparable to that of medical general practitioners, culminating in a master's degree. The difference between the two interventions is firstly the form of medicines dispensed, and secondly the fact that a homeopath aims to find an individualised treatment for each patient.
